Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of The Gathering Place based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
the bible
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, completely true and trustworthy. It has the final say in what we believe and how we live, and all of it points us to Jesus.

one true god
We worship one true God, who has always existed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He's the eternal I AM, the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. Relationship has always been part of who He is, and He made us to know Him and be known by Him.

jesus
Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. Today He's seated at the right hand of God, and He's the only way to the Father.

salvation
Nobody can earn their way to God, and nobody has to. Because Jesus shed His blood for us, anyone who turns from their sin and puts their faith in Him is forgiven, made new, and brought into God's family forever.

baptism
After you've put your faith in Jesus, the next step is water baptism. Going under the water and coming back up tells the world your old life is buried with Christ and you've been raised to walk in a brand new one. We baptize by immersion, and every baptism is a celebration.

The holy spirit
The Holy Spirit is God, one with the Father and the Son, and He lives in everyone who follows Jesus. Every believer can receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit, a gift from Jesus that fills us with power to live for Him and share Him with others. Speaking in tongues is a sign of this baptism. We want to be led by the Spirit in everything, with His gifts at work among us and His fruit showing up in how we live.

the second coming
Jesus is coming back, and that's our blessed hope. Those who have died in Christ will rise, those of us who are still alive will be caught up to meet Him, and we'll be with the Lord forever. He'll reign on the earth and make all things new. We don't know the day or the hour, so we live ready.

the church
The Church is the Body of Christ, and it's made up of everyone who has trusted Jesus as Savior, whatever their denomination. The local church exists to reach people who don't know Him yet and help believers grow, and every one of us has a place to belong and a part to play.
